It's Thursday, almost Friday, and I'm sooo ready! So many of you have expressed interest in joining our book blog, which is fantastic! So while everyone acclimates and gets used to checking the blog, and while we decide on a first book (still need suggestions and input!!), I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to write a post introducing themselves, since many of you are strangers, soon to be friends! Post whatever you want and feel like writing about. Since all of you know me, I'm leaving this one up to ya'll :)

p.s. As a side-note, I DID pick up my copy of "To Kill A Mockingbird" last night and read the first chapter. It was somewhat sweet when I noticed I had written my name on the inside cover so as to claim it as my own! And right underneath me was my little brother's name...I guess he used my copy in highschool. For some reason that made me smile :) Anyway, I had nothing else going on, and after writing about Harper yesterday I just couldn't help myself but to start reading. If everyone's happy with that choice, why don't we go ahead and start the book? Thoughts? xoxo Christine

  2. I too love the idea of re-reading To Kill a Mockingbird. In fact, there are so many pieces of classic literature that I would like to re-read, and I'm hoping this book club becomes the venue through which I can do so!

I'm headed to the library tomorrow to pick up a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird and shall start reading!

For those of you who don't know me, I'm Jenn. (Jennifer Lynn is one of my numerous online aliases. Lynn is my middle name.) Christine and I became friends when I moved to Sacramento and started working for her mom--the fabulous Elaine Archibald, a.k.a the best boss in the world--but I digress...

I now live in San Luis Obispo, CA so, sadly, I won't be able to attend wine night--I mean book club--in person, but I am looking forward to the fabulous discussions that will ensue as a result of reading these books with all of you!

For those of you who would like to be friends on other sites (I'm all about some social media these days), I'm Jennifer Hadra-Prentice on Facebook and @jennysue1207 on Twitter.

Looking forward to chatting with all of you soon!

  3. To Kill a Mockingbird sounds great, I will start searching for my old copy as well.

So I'm Alicia, Christine's fabulous cousin. I used to live in San Luis Obispo but for a little over a year have been living in San Diego and working on my masters in public health. I should hopefully be finishing this May and honestly I'm really looking forward to reading a book for fun and not for school, it's been a long time!

Just a thought for the next book...a friend just lent me Same Kind of Different as Me, I haven't started it but I've heard it's supposed to great. Perhaps that can be on our future books list.

  4. I'm excited to start reading! Like you guys, I'll have to find my copy! Christine, mine is from high school as well, and is probably packed away with some LOTN t-shirts.

I'm Lauren Goss, and I currently live in El Dorado Hills, CA... so that's a YES to book club/wine nights! I met Christine at St. Francis, and have many fond memories of our all night study sessions that really were an excuse to get together and talk about life and make predictions about our futures. Anyway, 13 years later (oh my, that's a long time), I'm happy to know that these conversations will continue!

Last year, I had my first teaching job in Kindergarten, finished up my Masters in Education, got a pink slip and came back up here... now I teach Reading and English Language Development classes in EDH. Life is busy, but good.

I'm an avid library patron, as I'm tired of spending money on books that I only read once. I love to cook and bake, so no worries about snacks for book group. Looking forward to meeting people be it in person or via blog!
